Finos in Action
Paso Finos at shows, at Cabalgatas, at Expos, trail rides and anything else you can imagine ....
Fiesta Caballo con el Paso Fino in Frankenwinheim
Our annual open house has already become a tradition but this year we were planning something different. In previous years we had fun classes for my students and Paso Fino demonstrations, this time our focus was on showing the versatility of the Paso Fino breed. My goal was to put together a varied show program with every aspect of the „work“ with our horses.
Paso Fino meets Garrocha - October 2016
On October 22nd Alex, some more interested attendees and I received dressage and Garrocha lessons from Stephan Vierhaus. For Milli and me it was the first time ever and again I am completely excited about my little horse! She did all I asked of her like a pro.
Paso Fino Get-to-know weekend at Auenhof
During the autumn holidays we and our riding instructor Stephan Vierhaus spent a weekend with Alexandra Rau and her Paso Finos at the Auenhof. Our goal was to gain experience with the Paso Fino, until then a breed new to us, and learn more about the special way of riding them.
Paso Fino vs. Germany Riding Pony - A comparison over 105 Kilometres
Our adventure started with this crazy idea – why don’t we ride to Erfurt. Without a plan and only last minute organisation, we started on a beautiful sunny morning. The ponies were in great mood – Sierra del Sol, the relaxed Paso Fino mare and Tabaluga, the German Riding Pony gelding – as they didn’t know what lay ahead of them.
Learning to let go
Probably every horseman has dreamt about galloping his horse without saddle and bridle easily across never-ending grassland. Movies like “Ostwind” (German movie) take up this longing or also “Lord of the Rings”: Who wouldn’t be fascinated when wizard Gandalf seems to just fly with his grey Shadowfax almost magically – two beings merging into one like a centaur.
Paso Fino’s Discovery day
Sunday morning, 21th February 2016, it’s the big day!! Today we go to the equestrian centre «Marolles’s horses» in order a dozen of young riders to discover what a paso fino is. Some stress at the beginning of this journey because if my stallion, Pasaporte, is used with this exercise it will be the first time for me with Bailarina my new mare. And it will be her first time in the trailer with my stallion!!
Pasos y Pasion 2015
The first show organised by the Muelle-family and Team Flieden took place June 19th – 21st, 2015. Within a short time this small local show turned into a highlight for the Paso Finos and Paso Peruanos in June. The grounds of the Riding and Driving Club Flieden were turned into a Paso-centre. The good infrastructure, short distances, good catering, and the central location were just perfect.
ISI & FINO at Lechleite - May 2015
On the first weekend of May our hot-tempered Paso Finos met with the not any less spirited Icelandic Horses for a joined show at Lechleite near the South German city of Augsburg. The weather gods did not mean well with us, apocalyptic rainfalls came down on the grounds of Veronika and Sebastian Frisch's Icelandic Horse Farm.
Fino + Agility = Fun for Two
„Horse-Agility? Never heard about it … what’s that?“ If you had asked me, that would have been my answer up to last year. But then I found a video on youtube that really got me excited with all the action. It showed a horse running next to a man without halter or rope and playfully managing various trail obstacles. It jumped through a hoop, ran across tarps and bridges, through slalom and a tunnel, similar to an agility-test for dogs.
1st Paso Fino Foxhunt in Schaafheim, Oct 18th, 2014
The weather gods were smiling upon us, after heavy rains the previous days, we had a clear blue sky for our first foxhunt. Everybody was really excited how it would go. We were welcomed with a glas of sparkling wine and received our memento (“hunting button”). Then we saddled up and met at the starting place. After a welcoming speech the bugles gave a serenade to officially announce the start.
Paso Finos in Europe - An experience to remember
Sometimes it is great to reflect on some of the chances of a lifetime that come in our direction. I was recently asked to Judge in Germany for a horse show in Wemding, Germany. I arrived in Germany flying after an 8 hour flight and of course on a red eye. I got there around 11:30 am which meant I was up all night and with all the loss of sleep I could not have been more excited.
First „Äppelwoi-Ritt“ in Flieden
To avoid too much stress before our departure, we brought our horses from the pasture into the stalls already the evening before traveling. Perfect riding weather was forecasted for the day. Fresh but dry. When arriving at Britta’s and Gerd’s farm riders in good mood and warm drinks were waiting for us already. Finally all were ready.
