Finos in the LimelightFrom 01.-04.09.2011 Gut Ellenbach near Kassel was the hotspot for all Gaited Horses in Germany. For 4 days Saddlebred horses, Icelandic Ponies, Aegidienberger, Paso Peruanos as well as several gaited cross-breeds competed against each other in various classes. Among them also a large group of Paso Finos with highly motivated and very committed riders. The Paso Finos sparkled under the top conditions (weather, oval tracks, barn tent and wine and dine) and we have rarely received more attention and interest for our breed. The times in which our horses were downgraded as hectic little ponies are apparently gone. We have received plenty of praise, respect and recognition from spectators and other contestants. All our riders and horses always looked elegant and refined. No matter if floodlight, pouring rain or heat – the styling was always and everywhere perfect! Apropos styling – the „revived“ Western Pleasure class turned out to be a truly brilliant class – all riders and horses looked absolutely authentic with glittery Western costumes and tack. Hopefully, this class will become even more popular among riders in the future for even more sparkle and shine. The two judges, Ellen Vierhaus and Anna Eschner, also very professional and competently commented their decisions after each class. A special highlight was the Paso Fino breed presentation during the official opening ceremony. 4 magnificent Paso Finos performing at the same time on the sounding board – what could be more exciting. All riders did an excellent job, especially since they had never practiced together. Even in the open IGV classes Paso Finos did quite well and it can be said that our breed definitely gets more attention and respect from the judges. Overall, it was a wonderful show with perfect organization, great people and lots of fun for everyone. Perhaps next year there will be even more Paso Fino at the International Gaited Horses Championships in Germany to draw even more attention to our outstanding horses.
